
Today, I had two gorgeous friends, Ang and Jane, and their munchkins over for a play date with Olive. Ang's birthday tomorrow was a fabulous excuse to bake a cake, so I whipped up Sweetapolita's Dark Chocolate with Strawberry Swiss Meringue Buttercream cake. It was my first attempt at making a Swiss Buttercream and I'm glad that I made a double batch because I ate half of it out of the bowl. It is dreamy. Very stable and fabulous to play with without the super sweet taste of regular buttercream. Mmmm *drool*.
Clearly, I need a little more practice in the piping department but I did have fun trying! This was my first attempt at roses. I think they may need a little 'workshopping' with my Gran, she'd be horrified if she saw these!
